South Korea's president has been removed from office after the Constitutional Court voted unanimously to uphold his impeachment. Yoon Suk Yeol was suspended from duty in December after being impeached by parliament, following his failed attempt to impose martial law.

South Korea will hold a snap presidential election within 60 days after the Constitutional Court unanimously removed President Yoon Suk Yeol from office on Friday, upholding his impeachment for imposing martial law last year.

With his ouster, a presidential election is required to take place within 60 days, according to the South Korea's constitution.
