Border Patrol agents arrested at least one person, who a coworker said was delivering strawberries, outside of Gov. Gavin Newsom's event in Little Tokyo.

A group of masked U.S. Border Patrol agents showed up in trucks outside of the press conference at the Japanese American National Museum.

Dozens of U.S. Border Patrol agents showed up Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles, where Gov. Gavin Newsom and other California political leaders were speaking at an event, and detained at least one person in the latest high-profile immigration enforcement operation in the city.

The ‘Election Rigging Response Act’ would short-circuit official redistricting, which happens every 10 years, led by an independent commission, and is not scheduled to start until 2030.

Border Patrol was “directed, clearly by the White House, as a political operation to make a point,” Newsom said.
