California passed a set of bills to expedite LA wildfire recovery funds as part of an extended special session called by Gov. Gavin Newsom in response to Palisades and Eaton fires.

The president will depart on Air Force One for L.A. this afternoon for a brief trip that may or may not include his old foe, Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The 10,396-acre Hughes fire reached 56% containment Friday as first responders gained progress on multiple blazes burning in Los Angeles County, which is expected to receive some rain over the weekend.

Over 1,100 firefighters were “strategically pre-positioned” across Southern California to address "ongoing critical fire weather," Cal Fire said.
