OpenAI is launching its first Stargate data centre project in Europe, partnering with developer Nscale Global Holdings and investment group Aker ASA to open a $1-billion facility in Norway next year,

OpenAI has announced plans to set up its first European AI data centre in Norway, marking a major step in expanding its global infrastructure. The project, called Stargate Norway, will be a collaboration with UK-based AI cloud provider Nscale and Norwegian energy company Aker.

The data center will hold 100,100 NVIDIA GPUs and use entirely renewable energy, if all goes according to plan.
