A fire broke out at Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s home early Thursday and social media footage showing the coach pacing outside as authorities worked to control the blaze has gone viral. Newsweek reached out to Miami Heat and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue by email for comment outside of normal business hours.
Thankfully, Spoelstra was not home at the time and no injuries were reported. The 55-year-old Illinois native was just flying back from Denver, Colorado, for a game against the Nuggets. The team’s charter flight reportedly arrived at 5:11 a.m.; Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received a call around 4:30 a.m. about the inferno.
