Amazon's AI video recap tool has already made an enormous mess by bungling up the details of its hit show, "Fallout."
Prime Video’s experiment with AI generated episode recaps backfired when the system produced wildly incorrect summaries for Fallout. After the backlash, Amazon removed the feature entirely, raising questions whether AI is ready for handling story driven content.
The second season of Fallout is debuting one day earlier than previously announced: the new season will now launch on Tuesday, December 16th at 9PM ET / 6PM PT on Prime Video, Amazon says. The season will have eight episodes that will premiere weekly on Wednesdays (besides this first episode), with the season finale airing on February 4th, 2026.
The recap claimed that the Ghoul gave Ella Purnell’s Lucy a choice to “die or leave with him” when they go after Kyle MacLachlan’s character, Hank, as he heads across the desert to New Vegas. This makes the interaction sound threatening, when in fact Lucy and the Ghoul are fairly chummy at this point.
Almost a month after Prime Video launched AI-powered Video Recaps, viewers said it shared incorrect plot details about season one of "Fallout."
“Video Recaps marks a groundbreaking application of generative AI for streaming,” Gérard Medioni, vice president of technology at Prime Video, said in a November press release. “This first-of-its-kind feature demonstrates Prime Video’s ongoing commitment to innovation and making the viewing experience more accessible and enjoyable for customers.”

Amazon Prime fans have days to binge ‘immaculate’ post-apocalyptic thriller before season 2
Amazon Prime Video viewers don’t have long to catch up before Fallout season 2 hits the streamer. The first season of the video game adaptation, which is set in a post-apocalyptic world, became the platform’s second-most-watched series of all time with 65million viewers in the first 16 days of release.
The second season of Amazon Prime's Fallout TV show debuts next week, whisking viewers off to the treasured setting of Fallout: New Vegas - but the game's lead writer has mixed feelings on seeing his work adapted for the small screen.
