Liverpool will not lodge a second bid for Alexander Isak after their initial offer of £120million was rejected by Newcastle. The Premier League champions were keen on landing the Swedish centre-forward despite splashing £69m on Hugo Ekitike, whom they beat Newcastle to the signing of last month.

Liverpool saw their reported £110 million bid for Newcastle ’s Alexander Isak refused this Friday, and seem unlikely to offer an improved bid. Though the offer is well below Newcastle’s £150 million valuation, ESPN report that the “nature” of the refusal suggests a renewed bid would be “pointless.”

Newcastle have rejected a formal offer from Liverpool for centre-forward Alexander Isak. Isak wants to leave Newcastle this summer and has been training at his former club, Real Sociedad, while Eddie Howe’s squad are in South Korea as part of their pre-season tour of Asia.
