Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist and founding member of the glam rock band Kiss who captivated audiences with his elaborate makeup and smoke-filled guitar, died Thursday. He was 74. Frehley died peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown,
Originally hailing from the Bronx in New York, Ace was born Paul Daniel Frehley. He later became affectionately known as the "Spaceman" of rock music pioneers KISS for his out-of-this world persona, makeup and wardrobe.
KISS bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, as well as Bret Michaels and Mike McCready, are among those paying tribute to rock icon Ace Frehley.
KISS co-founder Ace Frehley had one regret about his 1978 hit “New York Groove." The song has remained a classic. Frehley died Oct. 16 at age 74.
