Time is running short for Gov. Ron DeSantis’ first big decision of 2025 — picking Marco Rubio ’s replacement in the Senate. Asked on Tuesday if he’s made up his mind, the governor said he still has not decided who he will appoint to replace Rubio.

Ron DeSantis will take a little more time to mull a replacement for Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been tapped to serve as President-elect Donald Trump's secretary of state. DeSantis on Tuesday said he will appoint a senator to complete the remaining two years of Rubio's term around the time of Trump's Jan.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday he has not yet decided on who he will appoint to replace Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate, but he promised to have “somebody ready to go” shortly after President-elect Donald Trump takes office later this month.
