Chhattisgarh Public Works Department (PWD) has suspended the registration of Suresh Chandrakar, a construction contractor who is the main accused in the murder of freelance journalist Mukesh Chandrakar.

The murder of Chhattisgarh journalist Mukesh Chandrakar has again highlighted the threats faced by whistleblowers reporting from conflict areas. The semi-decomposed body of the 31-year-old was recovered from a septic tank at a construction site in southern Chhattisgarh's Bijapur town on January 3.
