The FBI arrested four Los Angeles–area members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front, stopping a suspected New Year’s Eve plot to place multiple pipe bombs at five or more locations across the city.

A spokesperson for the FBI’s New Orleans Field Office, which oversees agents across the state, confirmed agents arrested a “subject” in the investigation on Saturday in New Iberia.

Investigators say the four suspects were members of a radical faction of a left-wing group called the Turtle Island Liberation Front.

FBI agents arrested them “before they completed assembling a functional explosive device,” according to a court filing.
