The largest mass transit system in the country was swamped by flash flooding as water pored into New York City's subway system and Grand Central Terminal causing a travel nightmare for commuters Thursday.

The electrical outage at West 4th Street led to numerous subway delays and cancellations on a sweltering hot day.

On Thursday, July 31, Chantal McLaughlin was near the Hudson Line train departing at 3:51 p.m., when she recorded water pouring onto the train and subway track from the ceiling above it. The train was leaving the Grand Central Terminal.
