The Broncos and Rams became the first two teams to clinch playoff berths on Sunday, and they have the inside track to the No. 1 seeds in the AFC and NFC.
Seven teams from the NFC make the playoffs. The Rams currently have the #1 seed followed by the surprising Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Then, beginning with the Wild Card seeds, Seattle is ranked #5 followed by the San Francisco 49ers at #6, and the Green Bay Packers round out the seedings coming in at #7.
If these two things happen, the 49ers would finish 13-4 and win the NFC West over a 13-4 Rams team based on the division record tiebreaker. If the Seahawks also finish 13-4 in this scenario, the 49ers would have swept them, so they'd win any tiebreaker with Seattle. At 7-to-1 odds to win the NFC West, the 49ers feel like a steal.
The Broncos' 34-26 takedown of the Packers on Sunday, keyed by four touchdown passes from Bo Nix, helped them lock up a playoff berth and took another step toward perhaps their first AFC West title since 2015. The Patriots had a chance to punch their own playoff ticket, but they couldn't protect a 21-point lead against Josh Allen's Bills.
The Arizona Cardinals are the ugly stepchild of the NFC West this season. While they are 3-10 this season and 0-5 in division games, the rest of the division would be in the playoffs if the season ended today, and they all have nine or 10 wins.
Win with authority. That’s what took place for both the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams last week. Both outcomes were expected and necessary. Will it drive a change to our NFC Power Rankings, though,
The Green Bay Packers suffered a devastating loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Not only did the Packers lose superstar defensive end Micah
The NFC West has three teams with at least nine wins. In Week 14, though, the San Francisco 49ers, idle on their bye week, lost ground. The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks each won their 10th game of the season. Meanwhile, the Arizona lost for the 10th time this season, further separting themselves from the rest of the division.
The Philadelphia Eagles are closing in on another NFC East title — and their playoff seed is coming into focus.
Now, the Rams face a bigger test, their biggest yet, when they travel to Seattle in two weeks in a game that could decide the fate of the NFC West. The Seahawks squeaked one out against grandfather Phillp Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts this weekend, which means both teams are coming off emotional wins on a short week.
