Kia is recalling over 80,000 of its electric and hybrid vehicles over a floor wiring issue that increases the risk of unintentional and improper airbag deployment.

It may also cause the side curtain air bag to deploy at the wrong time. The recall involves some 2023 to 2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid and Hybrid Dealers will inspect, replace and reroute the wiring assembly if needed.

Kia is recalling more than 80,000 electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States because of improper airbag and seat belt deployment, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Saturday. The affected vehicles are the Kia Niro from 2023-2025, Niro EV from 2023-2025 and the Niro plug-in hybrid from 2023-2025.
