Three people were killed when severe thunderstorms swept through Plainfield, N.J. on Thursday night, officials say.

A line of severe weather carved a path of destruction through Central Jersey, hitting Plainfield so hard that the city declared a state of emergency.

Central Jersey is recovering from devastating storms last evening that killed at least two people, according to Gov. Phil Murphy. Plainfield, North Plainfield, Bound Brook and Dunellen all sustained extensive damage.
