Two storms loom over next week's Thanksgiving holiday with the potential to cause delays during the busiest travel period of the year.

DALLAS - Dallas-Fort Worth is in for some wet changes after a record-breaking hot week. The week began with a new daily record high of 87 degrees on Tuesday at DFW Airport, breaking the previous record of 83 degrees. The average high temperature for this time of year is 66 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Austin weather: Multiple rounds of rain and storms expected
However, areas from Austin to the Hill Country will be under a FLASH FLOOD WATCH from midnight Thursday to 6am Friday morning. Some parts of the Hill Country could get 1 to 3" of rain in the next 36 hours promoting minor flooding of streets, low water crossings and ponding on highways.
West-side residents saw 1-inch hail, brief torrential rainfall and lightning as afternoon turned to evening, according to the National Weather Service. The ceiling of a store at Desert Sky Mall partially collapsed, the Phoenix Fire Department said, severing a water line that caused extensive damage and will close the entire mall indefinitely.
Early forecasts by meteorologists are predicting that parts of the U.S., especially the Midwest and Northern areas, should brace themselves for heavy snow and winter storms over the Thanksgiving week, raising serious concerns about travel disruptions, hazardous road conditions, and delays for holiday plans.
