A powerful atmospheric river has triggered historic flooding across western Washington, forcing evacuations as the Skagit River nears record-shattering levels and communities brace for widespread damage.
US 2 remains closed between Skykomish and Tumwater Canyon, spanning about 100 miles. Meanwhile, all eastbound lanes of I-90 are open at Winery Road after a slide was cleared. Crews worked diligently to remove debris and reopen these lanes.
Nearly 10 rivers are currently at Flood Phase 4, the highest warning phase, while 15 have at least reached Phase 3.
KING COUNTY, Wash. — Amid significant flooding, crews managed to rescue three people and a dog who were trapped in their home near the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. Eastside Fire and Rescue says the crews responded to the area around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Officials said the three adults had limited mobility.
