Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell cited that early effort as a big reason for the final result: “Not the way I wanted to start the game. We have to give Wisconsin a tip of the hat, they’ve been playing very well. Not a lot of teams come in here and beat us like that.”

Greg Gard’s group overcame 16 turnovers and a late Rutgers surge to do so. Wisconsin’s comfortable lead dwindled to three points with six minutes remaining in the contest.
