Peters was sentenced to nine years in prison following her conviction on charges related to tampering with voting machines.
President Donald Trump announced Thursday he is granting Tina Peters a full federal pardon, which is likely to increase the pressure campaign to free the former Colorado clerk from state prison even though he cannot erase her state charges.
Trump lashed out at Democrats in his Truth Social post announcing his pardon of Peters, who is currently serving a 9-year prison sentence.
Trump's pardon is largely symbolic since Peters, who is now in prison, was convicted of state crimes, which are not shielded by presidential pardon powers. “Democrats have been relentless in their targeting of TINA PETERS, a Patriot who simply wanted to make sure that our Elections were Fair and Honest,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Pro-Trump clerk convicted in 2020 election scheme threatened, attacked in prison, lawyer says
Colorado county clerk Tina Peters, convicted in a pro-Trump election denial scheme, has been attacked three times in prison, according to her lawyer.
President Donald Trump issued a symbolic pardon for Tina Peters on Thursday, but it alone won’t free the former Colorado elections administrator who was convicted under state laws of orchestrating a data breach scheme driven by false claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Tom Cruise reportedly avoided seeking a favor from President Donald Trump to facilitate his ambitious project to film a movie in outer space. A report has claimed the actor did not want to ask Trump’s administration for help.
The lawsuit asks a federal court in Atlanta to demand that ballots from the 2020 presidential election be produced within five days of a court order.
