Derrick Carter’s new exhibition at the Harrison Center, which features his layered acrylic and sand paintings, takes its title from the astrological sign Gemini because he himself is a Gemini.

Derrick Carter headed out that late, rainy April night in 2005 on his way to junior prom. He ended the night in a hospital bed, his body shattered on the right side, save for his right arm and hand.
