Several sources claim that Tesla has already built the first new Model Y at its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany. According to German media outlet Handelsblatt, the company was scheduled to start producing the new car, also known by its codename "Juniper", on Tuesday.

The company's Gigafactory in Brandenburg (near the country's capital in Berlin) started building the facelifted electric crossover today.

The updated Tesla Model Y is going into production today in Germany. The report comes from the German newspaper Handelsblatt. American customers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the facelifted crossover.

Tesla has confirmed that it is starting production of the new Model Y with a refreshed design at Gigafactory Berlin, but it hasn’t yet opened orders for it. Last week, Tesla unveiled the new Model Y in China and started taking orders in the country and a few other markets that Tesla supplies with its Gigafactory Shanghai.

The updated Model Y is expected to help Tesla to boost its sales momentum in Europe amid a slowdown in consumer demand for electric vehicles.
