A tradition for athletes at the state track and field championships is to pose for photos in front of the Jesse Owens statue outside the stadium. The memorial shows Owens wearing four gold medals from the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The state track and field meet came to a close on Saturday. Many athletes claimed a state championship, but very few can say they’ve won five straight years. Jayaunna Stroh placed third in the class ‘AA’ girls high jump as a seventh grader in 2021.

The top two high jumpers in VHSL Class 2 are both from Fort Defiance High School. Taylor Cubbage and Livia Clinedinst plan big things for state meet.
