Amid mounting street protests, businesses, universities and government offices stayed closed Wednesday under government orders, in 21 of 31 provinces, including Tehran.

A protester climbed onto the Iranian embassy in London and briefly replaced the current flag with the pre‑1979 Lion and Sun flag, a symbol of Iran before the Islamic Revolution. The flag stayed for several minutes before it got taken down.
