Mark Byington, shown Sunday coaching James Madison during its first NCAA Tournament since 2013, is heading to Vanderbilt, according to multiple reports. His Dukes were 32-4 this season.

Byington, 47, went 82-36 in four seasons at JMU, leading the Dukes to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they lost to Duke, 93-55, Sunday night in Brooklyn. The Dukes finished 32-4.

The hire was a swift decision, coming in less than 18 hours after Byington's 12th-seeded James Madison team lost to No. 4 Duke 93-55 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Byington went 82-36 in his four seasons with the Dukes. He got his head coaching start at Georgia Southern in 2013, and he went 131-97 in seven seasons there before landing in Harrisonburg.
