A bench of justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih found that Malhotra, then arguing as a senior counsel, had suppressed crucial court orders that barred the convict’s release for 30 years.

The bench said what it had reproduced was “borne out from the record”. Malhotra, it said, was designated as a senior advocate on August 14, 2024.
