Severe weather threat returns to North Texas Saturday, bringing possible high winds and hail
A cold front arrives Saturday bringing scattered rain and storms to North Texas. Saturday is a First Alert Weather Day due to the threat of isolated strong to marginally severe storms. It is the last weekend of the State Fair of Texas as well as the Bluebonnet Battle between TCU and Baylor in Fort Worth, so lots of people have outdoor plans.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for multiple Southeast Texas counties starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday and lasting through 7 p.m.

The cold airmass settles in the forecast for tomorrow, allowing for temperatures to dip significantly. The low Wednesday morning is 48 degrees for DFW, but the wind chill value will make it feel like the low 40s. The high on Wednesday will be in the low 60s, sitting below the average temperature, which is 74 degrees for this time of the year.
The risk for fast-spreading wildfires is high on Wednesday, especially for areas west of the San Bernard River that are under a fire weather watch.

A “major” blast of arctic air may impact the South, including Texas. There will be a pattern shift around late January or early February that could allow “significant” cold air to sweep through the state and the Gulf Coast, according to AccuWeather.
