Another powerful storm system is expected to sweep across a wide swath of the United States, bringing heavy rain to Southern California, heavy snow to parts of the West and Midwest and more snow and freezing rain to the Northeast and New England.

The storm is forecast to bring snow and cold temperatures to multiple regions on Friday and through the weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning at 2:09 a.m. on Friday in effect until 10 p.m. for Foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon.
