England kick off their first white-ball series against India in three years today in Kolkata, with head coach Brendon McCullum looking to mould his side ahead of next month's Champions Trophy.  The fall out from England's disappointing performance at last year's T20 World Cup saw McCullum take charge of the limited-overs squad,

India won the toss and chose to bowl first in the series-opening T20 against England's cricketers in Kolkata on Wednesday. Mohammed Shami missed out for India despite the fast bowler being available after more than a year on the sidelines.

The 1st T20 match between India and England is set for January 22 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Mohammed Shami is expected to return after injury. India, under Suryakumar Yadav, aim to continue its strong form.

After two months of the Test series against Australia, Team India will change the white jersey and blue jersey as they gear up for the white-ball series against England. The series will begin with the T20I leg before moving on to play ODI cricket.

The series will start at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata - a venue where haven't lost a T20I since 2011. The last time these two teams faced each other was in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup in 2024 where India beat England by a comprehensive 68 runs.
