On Friday morning, the Oilers made a massive splash, finally parting ways with goaltender Stuart Skinner in a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Fellow goalie Tristan Jarry was the centrepiece coming the other way along with forward Sam Poulin, while the Oilers also sent defenceman Brett Kulak and a 2029 second-round pick to Pittsburgh.
