On Monday, New Era dropped their "Overlap" series, which features MLB team names behind the primary logo. This created clunky and awkward aesthetics for most teams, but the Rangers had a bigger issue.
"This year’s New Era 'Overlap' hats are going viral for creating some of the funniest, stupidest, most-amazing hats we’ve ever seen," noted the SB Nation site.
One of the Rangers hats, which retailed for $44.99, sold for $999.99 on eBay Wednesday morning. The sale was confirmed by eBay’s product research tool, Terapeak.

However, the design flaws turned some of these hats into unintended punchlines. Despite the removal of the Rangers, Astros, and Angels caps, 27 other Overlap hats remain available for purchase.
On Tuesday morning, the Overlap hat was no longer for sale online via the MLB store. Instead, the distinctive cap became a hot commodity on Ebay, selling for as high as $200.
