Hundreds of mourners bearing bright bouquets and clutching each other in grief gathered at a funeral in Sydney on Thursday for a 10-year-old girl who was gunned down in an antisemitic massacre during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach.

Authorities in Australia have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with the shooting at a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach on Dec. 14 that killed 15 people and injured 41 others, including four children.

A Holocaust survivor, a 10-year-old and a Chabad rabbi were among the 15 people killed when two gunmen opened fire on a Hanukkah event at Australia's Bondi Beach on Sunday. Hundreds of people had gathered to mark the first day of the Jewish festival before the attackers struck at the event in Sydney.

There has been frustration among Sydney’s Jewish community that authorities haven’t heeded warnings about a rise in antisemitism.

In the minutes that followed the first sounds of gunfire Sunday night at Bondi Beach in Sydney, the assault would end the lives of at least 15 people.

Police and local media reports said the shooting began while some people were attending a Hanukkah party on the beach. At least 40 people were hospitalized.
