Everton striker Armando Broja was given oxygen and carried off on a stretcher after injuring his right leg in an innocuous challenge in Thursday’s FA Cup match against Peterborough.

Boss David Moyes is sympathetic towards Broja, who has an ankle injury that will keep him out for three months. However, Moyes wants to sign a replacement on loan and cannot do so without releasing Broja. The 23-year-old had missed most of the season to that point with an Achilles issue, and spent all of last season trying to get back to his pre-injury levels after an ACL tear cost him most of 2023.

There was brief hope that Armando Broja’s ankle injury was not as bad as initially feared but it looks like the 23-year-old will just about miss the rest of the season after all, as he’s expected to be out for 10-12 weeks according to the latest word from Everton.
