NHL insider Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet revealed the Toronto Maple Leafs had the best offer for Mikko Rantanen but the Hurricanes said no.

The Toronto Maple Leafs could be interested in acquiring Mikko Rantanen if the Carolina Hurricanes decide to trade the pending free agent ahead of the March 7 deadline. According to The Star’s Nick Kypreos,
