North Dakotans would no longer need to change their clocks for daylight saving time under a bill approved Tuesday by House lawmakers. The House voted 55-37 to approve House Bill 1259, which would keep the state on standard time year-round.

North Dakota lawmakers passed a bill ending Daylight Saving Time and forcing permanent standard time. The House voted 55 to 37 in favor of sending House Bill 1259 to the Senate. It does not change any time zone lines.

Monday to advance a bill that makes a change to lawmaker term limits approved by voters in 2022. House Bill 1300 addresses what Rep. Vicky Steiner, R-Dickinson, called a gray area in the constitutional measure approved by voters that limits lawmakers to serving no more than eight years in the state House and eight years in the state Senate.
