SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a Level 2 (Get Set) Flood Watch for all of Skagit County within the 100-year floodplain, effective until Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service expanded and extended flood watches across Washington and Oregon on Monday as a prolonged atmospheric river continues to push deep moisture into the region.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Skagit River through Friday due to the possibility of its dikes/levees failing, which could lead to widespread flooding.
On Thursday at 8:32 p.m. an updated flash flood watch was released by the NWS Seattle WA in effect until Saturday at 4 a.m. for Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish counties.
The floodwall in Mount Vernon is expected to be overtopped as the river swells. Authorities have told everyone within the river's 100-year floodplain to evacuate.
