Bruce Blakeman, the Republican county executive of Nassau County in New York, announced Tuesday that he will run for governor of the Empire State.
The move will pit Blakeman in a Republican fight with North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik for the right to challenge Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Blakeman says he will run on affordability and public safety — the same issues that drove his successful reelection bid.
