A new fire erupted early Wednesday evening in the Hollywood Hills near Runyon Canyon, just west of the Hollywood Bowl. And officials have ordered mandatory evacuations for an area bounded by Laurel Canyon Boulevard on the west,

Several schools have been reported destroyed or damaged in the wildfires, including Palisades Charter High School, which was featured in the movie "Grease," Palisades Charter Elementary School and Marquez Charter Elementary School, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The Palisades and Eaton fires are threatening homes, with winds expected to intensify. California Gov. Gavin Newsom described the fires in Los Angeles as “unprecedented.”
