ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the Lions signed Morton as offensive coordinator. The New York Times reported that the Lions signed Morton, citing a league source. NFL.com also reported the hiring, citing sources from NFL Network insiders Ian Rapaport and Tom Pelissero.
Detroit Lions promote assistant coach to become new defensive coordinator
DETROIT – The Detroit Lions have promoted an assistant coach to become their new defensive coordinator. Linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard is expected to replace Aaron Glenn as the Lions' new DC, according to multiple reports. Sheppard joined the Lions in 2021 and has quickly risen through the defensive coaching ranks for head coach Dan Campbell.
