Cricket Australia have been forced into a late squad rethink ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. Cricket Australia have confirmed Pat Cummins will not be part of Australia’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup after failing to recover from a back injury.
Pat Cummins was earlier supposed to miss only the initial phase of the T20 World Cup. However, the cricketer stated that a 'minor setback' led to him missing the entire tournament and Australia's upcoming schedule also played a role in no risking his long-term health.
Australia are set to open their World Cup campaign on February 11 against Ireland in Colombo. They are in Group B with Ireland, Oman, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
