The Tesla (TSLA) chief executive and former head of the Department of Government Efficiency has been on what analysts have described as an apology tour after his much-publicized falling out with President Donald Trump.

Tesla investors seem willing to trade a delay in the company’s robotaxi pilot program for the hope that Elon Musk is working his way back into the Trump administration’s good graces.

Tesla is expected to launch its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, as soon as this week, with the electric vehicle maker's stock in need of positive news after a week marked by political strife between CEO Elon Musk and President Trump.
