Democratic lawmakers are trying to build a case that Republicans in Texas have engineered a rushed and unfair process for redrawing the state’s congressional districts.

Texas Republicans have released their highly anticipated plan for how to tip the balance in their favor in next year’s midterms – redrawing the state’s congressional map in favor of more GOP seats.

The first draft of the lower chamber’s new redistricting map targets Democratic members of Congress in the Austin, Dallas and Houston metro areas and in South Texas.
