Chicago weather: A big warm-up arrives just in time for the weekend
It was another gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid 50s. The average high temperature for November 13th is 50 degrees, so we came in a few degrees warmer than normal.
“The first freeze, which is when the temperature drops at or below 32 degrees, typically occurs between Oct. 11 and Oct. 12 across the Chicago suburbs and Oct. 21 to Oct. 30 in the city and along the lakeshore,” Brett Borchardt, meteorologist for the National Weather Service’s Chicago office, told the Tribune.
With hundreds of flights canceled due to weather at Chicago airports, O'Hare is under a ground stop expected to last for several hours due to staffing issues. The airport closed for a time overnight.
