The 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck a little after noon near suburban Hillsdale, New Jersey, about 10 miles northwest of the Bronx in New York City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

North Jersey was shaken up again on the afternoon of Aug. 5 when a 2.7 magnitude earthquake hit Bergen County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter was in Hillsdale, the government agency said, and the quake occurred at 12:11 p.m.
