Storm Éowyn, which struck overnight, caused devestating damage to the €3.1 million Connacht GAA Air Dome, which has proved a huge success over recent years.

Connacht GAA's Air Dome indoor playing facility in county Mayo has been blown down during Storm Éowyn. The £2.6m facility, which was opened in 2020 and is located at Connacht GAA's Centre of Excellence at Bekan near Ballyhaunis, regularly hosts inter-county matches in the winter months as well as being used as a training venue.

Connacht GAA's Air Dome has been destroyed during Storm Éowyn. The multimillion euro facility in Bekan near Ballyhaunis in Co Mayo, now known as the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome, opened in 2020 and has been a huge success due to its ability to host indoor games at all levels, regardless of the conditions.

CONNACHT GAA’s Air Dome was destroyed by high speed winds this morning as the destructive Storm Éowyn passed over Mayo, members have confirmed. The €3.1 million facility officially opened in January 2022,
