Frequently compared to his brother, Jude Bellingham, who had a remarkable spell with the Black and Yellows before being transferred to Real Madrid, Jobe is experiencing a period of instability on and off the pitch. Amongst the reasons pointed out by Bild for the player not managing to adapt to Borussia and Germany are his parents.

Kobel played a risky pass out from the back to his teammate, who tried to collect the ball in classic defensive midfielder fashion, just in front of the penalty area. In doing so, he failed to notice Philipp Treu behind him, who got to the ball first.

Gregor Kobel has shouldered the blame for Borussia Dortmund's dropped points against Freiburg, admitting his distribution error led directly to the match-altering red card for Jobe Bellingham. The goalkeeper insisted the team was 'dominant' before the incident but conceded that they were forced to be 'satisfied' with a draw after playing the entire second half with ten men.

Jobe Bellingham has been banned for Borussia Dortmund's next two Bundesliga games after he was sent off against Freiburg.
