The largely peaceful protests during the "No Kings Day" demonstration in downtown Los Angeles took an intense turn in the afternoon. Police ordered the crowd to disperse at about 4:15 p.m. PDT near Alameda Street and Temple Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division.

President Trump has called for expanded deportation operations in Los Angeles after "No King Day" protests over the weekend and anti-ICE protests last week in response to ICE raids across Southern California.

The new round of protests comes as the No Kings demonstrations were held across the United States on Saturday to protest the policies of the Trump administration. Counting the previous day's protests, Sunday marks the 10th day of demonstrations against ICE raids and Trump's policies for his second term in office.

Those millions included an estimated 200,000 people in Los Angeles, 100,000 in Philadelphia, 70,000 in Seattle and over 50,000 in New York.
