Millions of homes across the U.S. face risk of damage from hurricane-force winds and storm-surge flooding this year.

The first-of-its-kind project is happening in Lake Michigan near Milwaukee, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Muskegon, Michigan.
