OPEN! Shirley Chisholm State Park is now the newest and largest public park in New York City. The 407-acre park located on the Jamaica Bay waterfront in Brooklyn offers 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, a bayside pier, fishing and picnic areas and a free loaner bike library. Born in Brooklyn to immigrant parents, Shirley Chisholm became the first African American woman elected to Congress, and the first African American woman to run for president.
