Here is a very cool video of a beaver grooming its fur that I filmed earlier this summer. The video gives an up close look at the beaver’s incisors. Their incisors are orange because the outer enamel has a high iron content, which give the teeth strength for chewing through wood. This beaver is using one of its hind feet to groom. Part two of harvesting moose teeth from the moose my son got last fall. These are the results so far, but I’m not finished yet. I’ll be adding brown rabbit fur behind the teeth — not only to make it prettier, but also so it sits comfortably without poking into the body. I tried beaver fur, but it was too thick, so rabbit fur will give the right flexibility.
