Marilyn Monroe is still making history. Andy Warhol’s iconic portrait of the actress sold at Christie’s auction house on Monday for $195 million, making it the most expensive work by a U.S. artist ever auctioned. Christie's had described “Shot Sage Blue Marilyn,” as "one of the rarest and most transcendent images in existence” prior to the sale. The 1964 silkscreen image sold to an unknown buyer.
